Welcome to motherhood! It is not all cakes and roses as they say.
Infinite hours of labor and finally! The little bundle of joy that u have been carrying for almost 280 days (Yep! that’s how long it was) is finally here. You stare at the little angel and wonder what good have you done to deserve such a cuddly cute baby. Ah! Life is so beautiful.
Slowly and gradually the morphine wears off and reality sets in! WHY IN THE WORLD THIS BABY KEEPS CRYING! WHY CAN’T THE PEOPLE SEE THAT I NEED SOME SPACE! I NEED FOOD! I NEED SLEEP! OH GOD WHO GAVE ME THE IDEA OF MAKING THE BABY!
Hang in there sista! Welcome to motherhood. Below are a few easy pointers to make this journey less crazy (yep, u can never take out the crazy from motherhood).
Sleep when the baby sleeps. Yes! Chores can wait. I mean c’mon! You MADE a baby! Could there be any bigger chore than that? Give your body a break!
Indulge into some mind relaxing activities. Usually it’s not the hard work that causes postpartum depression, but a stressed out brain.
Don’t follow ALL the advices given to you.
If you can make a baby, you can sure as hell raise it. Nothing matches a mother’s instinct.
Looking after the baby is not just your job, get help from your partner as much as possible. That will give u a break & is important for the bond between you two.
The breastfeed vs. bottle feed is a never ending debate
Don’t let anyone else take this decision for you. Yours and baby’s health is more important. Do what you think is best for you and baby.
And last but not the least! Don’t let any negativity dwell around you
If you are a happy mom, you will raise a happy baby. Happy parenting!
About The Author – Sahar Zareef
A Microbiologist and a stay-at-home mom of a 2 year old monster who has made me fall in love with him as well as made me fall and breakdown with frustration infinite times with his mischiefs. I had a knack for writing for as long as I can remember but then, life happened and I got lost it figuring it out. Yep, that’s how consuming it is. But then, that’s the fun part. Be consumed and fill others with love, hope and happiness. One thing that I have learnt in life is, keep struggling to achieve your goals. Because the day you give up is the day life stops happening to you. And that’s where it starts getting boring.
