While the catwalks of Milan, London, Paris and New York provide the inspiration for what we wear, it is the High Street who brings that vision to life for the mass market of you and I. What To Wear For Spring Summer 2017 is my guide to what is going to be HOT! Since following trends can be an expensive hobby let Fashionable Frank eliminate potential fashion faux pas’ and provide clarity with fashion fact! Set back, relax and enjoy the fashion show!

The issues to consider with new trends are colour and clothes. You can be “on trend” by choosing the colours that are forecasted to be popular OR you can wear the clothes which will be considered fashionable.

For Spring Summer 2017 there are some new updates regarding colour and they are tonal outfits, use of stone and pink along with camoflauge. In terms of clothing the concensus is printed wide collared shirtswide leg trousers, statement bombers along with light wash denim jackets (and jeans) are the “go-to” pieces for Spring Summer 2017.

It is worth noting that one is independent of the other for example not many men are going to wear wide leg trousers in pink! Occasionally you will have the colours and clothes of the season available in a one brilliant piece for example Zara Man Stone Chinos or a Pink Suede Bomber.

In Part 1 of our Spring Summer 2017, we will talk about the must have trendy colours.

Part 2 of this series will be all about clothes

Stone, the sandy colour that sits nicely on the fence between beige and white was a big trend in SS 16. The popularity of this colour is partly due to the refusal of some men to wear pants or jeans. The good news about Stone is the colour transcends both smart and casual. It looks great as a suit however it is also a great alternative when seeking sun-friendly colour alternatives in chinos, trousers or jeans. Stone proved popular with Designers like Giorgio Armani and Valentino on the catwalks in January and February.

Stone is a great colour for a suit especially if you have a wedding or dapper events to attend. Break away from the blues and grays with this sharp Stone alternative from River Island. Shop the suit here. Stone Bomber Jackets and Knitted Polos are also great pieces to add to your wardrobe.

The Bomber Jacket is once again going to be popular for SS 17, add a Stone coloured one for a trend led outfit. My pick is from Burton Menswear and is only €68! The contrast collar adds a funky point of interest to your outfit.

Pink has been popular for a few years but the dusty pink hue is destined to dominate as temperatures soar. The colour is used across a wide variety of clothing for example Denim Jackets, Bombers and Hoodies for Spring and t-shirts and shorts for high Summer. Pink in a linen fabric is a great idea for your Spring Summer Sartorial choices. Pink was popular on the catwalks with Gucci and Topman Design.

This ZARA BOMBER is only €39.95 and is perfect for SS17. The Lightweight fabric along with the dusty pink tone means you will get a lot of wear out of it. I wear it with a pair check grey slim fit trousers, white trainers and white t-shirt.

Pink Chinos are a great way to add a splash of colour to your SS17 outfits. Team with a white tee or shirt and white trainers and you have a new classic look! These are from Zara and are a bargain at only €39.95.

Camo is back for another colour tour of duty! Get the trend right and it will serve you with honour. Camo is available in a wide range of clothing so choose wisely when buying. I think a Camo bomber or Jumper will be enough for you. For High Summer go for Camo T-Shirt, swim shorts and vests BUT do not wear them together! Please!

While Camo is a trend for SS17  I recommend avoid splashing out heavily on it. Go for something you will get a lot of use out of. This Zara T-Shirt is ideal. I love the understated print on this. Stripes are always popular in Summer opting for this T-Shirt will add a really funky piece to your outfits and its only €19.95! No excuse not to buy!

Diego Simone Tonal OutfitTonal Outfits are simply wearing the same colour BUT in different shades. Think Diego Simone here, the dapper Atletico Madrid hell raiser has been rocking the tonal look for years! Tonal Navy outfits are popular for 2017 just remember to vary the shades. Tonal will work well for casual and in particular formal outfits. Tonal Grey Outfits are very popular as well!

Stay tuned for Part 2, which we will post later This week.
