Mahira Khan’s star has been steadily on the rise this side of the border. Early this year, she made her big Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Raees. An instant favourite amongst the shutterbugs in India , she has been nailing it on the red carpet too. She lets us in on her simple yet effective get-gorgeous tricks.
I am definitely a minimalist. How I feel from the inside is for more important than make-up or clothes. When I am at peace with myself, and generally having a good day, both personally and professionally, I tend to look most beautiful.
I don’t believe in over-cleansing – I wash my face with plain water in the morning. followed by Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser with SPF. If I am on shoot, I’ll ice my face prior to applying makeup. Before bed, I cleanse with Bioderma Sensibio II20 or pure almond oil, followed by Kiehl’s Intim Fatin, Cleanser, ROC anti-ageing night cream or Rodin face oil. I must admit I love face oils—many a times I’ll end up applying just almond oil at night.

Put on a red lip stick and you’re good to go! I’m obsessed with M.A.C. Ruby Woo.
There are days when go all out and look sexy glamorous and then there are days where I just want to keep it simple—hair worn down, a lip color, liner, some Wash and mascara, and I’m done. My personal style is a reflection of my childhood and later years in LA—it varies from classic (especially with traditional outfits) to boho and laid-back.
I like pieces from designers around the world. When it comes to traditional wear, I like Bunto Kazmi, Umar Sayeed, Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi. My Western wear is usually from Feeha Jamshed, Elan and other designers from Pakistan.
Bobbi Brown Pink Coral blush and YSL and Dior mascaras are my must-haves for night outs.
I love Thai massages – Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa‘s spa is fantastic.
Mix a teaspoon of honey with lemon juice and apply it over your face and neck for five minutes. This concoction cleanses and moisturizes your skin and gives you an amazing glow.

I hosted this this awards show and asked my stylist to give me ‘Adele’ hair… It was disastrous! The bouffant didn’t suit me at all. Surprisingly, that look made it to many best-dressed lists.
As much as I would like to experiment. I have been obsessed with Ralph Lauren Romance ever since it was gifted to me at 14. I wear it day and night.
I was not allowed to wear make-up, not even as a teen. I used to get very upset about it then, but now when I think back I thank my mom for saving my skin! My dadi’s Nivea cream was the first ever beauty product I used
Europe has the best beauty products. Harrods in London end Saks Fifth Avenue in New York re my favorite: the variety there is unmatched.
